Practice History
It all began nearly 60 years ago...

Waiting Room
In 1946 Dr Clem McMahon, Dr Marea's father, finished his service with the
RAAF in Townsville and returned to Brisbane where he began his General Practice
at Redcliffe.
Five years later, in 1951, Dr McMahon, together with his
wife and first two children, moved to the home they had built at Wavell Heights.
As was the practice those days, the surgery was housed at the front of the
family home. Over the years, many people sat and waited on those front
steps.
By 1973 there was a need to move the Practice to another location.
A property across the road from the family home (274 Rode Road) became available
and so 'Wavell MediCentre' was born.
Dr Marea joined her father at Wavell
MediCentre in 1987.
After 31 years, Wavell MediCentre outgrew its site at
274 Rode Road and there was a need to expand its services.
With great sadness, and at the same time, a sense of excitement, the Practice
closed its doors on the 10th August 2004.
Kedron-Wavell MediCentre opened
on the 16th August 2004, providing its patients with state of the art equipment
in modern, comfortable surroundings.
Dr Clem continued to practice until
he was 83 and a half years old (1998) - quite an
achievement.
Unfortunately, for those of us who knew Dr Clem, he passed
away on the 29th December 2003 and is very sadly missed.
He would be proud to see how far 'His Practice' has come.
