Appointments
Please phone the practice on (07) 3359 2160 to arrange an appointment. Our receptionist will endeavour to arrange an appointment for you with your preferred doctor.
Please note that a standard consultation lasts 15 minutes, to allow the GP to conduct a thorough assessment and write adequate notes.
When making your appointment, please inform the receptionist if you need to discuss multiple or complex issues during your consultation. We can then book you in for a longer consultation time (for example 30 minutes, 45 minutes and so on). Knowing that you need to spend more time with your doctor helps us reduce overall patient waiting times, which is considerate of others.
When you arrive at the surgery, please check-in with the receptionist before sitting down in the waiting room. If you require urgent medical attention, please notify reception upon arrival.
Back to topPractice Billing
As we are a private billing practice, a fee is payable on all consultations. However, we have endeavoured to keep fees affordable to ensure all patients have access to essential healthcare. All of our fees are below the recommended fees set out by the Australian Medical Association.
Considerable discounts are made available for Pension and Health Care Card holders and these cards must be presented at the time of visit for the discount to apply. Bulk billing is available for children under 16 years of age with most doctors. Please see our current fees under Fees & Billing.
Back to topAfter Hours Care Arrangements
The practice provides an after-hours emergency service. Please ring the practice on 3359 2160. An answering machine will inform you how to contact the doctor on-call.
Back to topPatient Recalls
As part of our ongoing commitment to high quality patient care, a reminder system is available for a variety of medical conditions. Please inform the receptionist if you do not wish to be part of our reminder system.
Back to topTest Results
It is preferable to have a follow-up consultation with your doctor to obtain and discuss the results of tests and any further action that may be required. For some routine tests in healthy patients (such as Pap smears), normal test results may be given over the telephone at the sole discretion of the doctor.
Back to topTelephone Access
To ensure all patients receive optimal care and time during consultations, telephone calls to doctors are limited to emergencies. Our friendly reception staff are trained to help with any enquiries you may have and will endeavour to organise a time that will be convenient to both patient and doctor to discuss concerns. If your call is urgent, please inform the receptionist immediately and your call will be attended to promptly.
Back to topHome Visits
Home visits are available for regular patients of the practice who are unable to attend the surgery because of their medical condition. Visits can also be arranged for patients in nursing homes. Please enquire at reception about home visit charges.
Back to topPrescriptions and Referrals
It is not our practice’s policy to issue repeat prescriptions without seeing the patient. Importantly, this is done so that the doctor can monitor the medication being taken.
A consultation is required if you wish to obtain a referral to a specialist. This enables your doctor to provide your specialist with appropriate and up to date medical information.
If you require either a repeat prescription or a referral, please phone the receptionist for an appointment.
Back to topCar Parking
Ample car parking is available adjacent to the entrance to the medical centre. There is driveway access from both Gympie Road and Emerald Street.
Back to topDisabilities
There is a disabled parking space adjacent to the building. All doors are wheelchair accessible. A disabled toilet is available for use by patients.
Back to topChildren and Babies
There is a children’s play area in the waiting room. There are also private areas available for changing and nursing.
